  1. In the year 1870 Thomas Kielty lived in Kiltimagh. He was well-educated, a land surveyor and could estimate the cost of building houses, walls, bridges, etc. He was unassuming and quiet in disposition, he was popular and a great favourite with all hands, rich and poor, and moderate in his charges.
