- My house is situated in the townland of Carrowerin, in the Parish of Ardagh, in the Barony of Tirawley, in the County of Mayo. There are ten houses in our townland and about thirty six people. The families most common in our townland are Knox's and O'Hora's. There are four slated houses in our townland which belong to, Mr. James Maughan, Mr. George Jackson, Mr. Joseph Knox, and Mrs. Frank Knox. There are six thatched houses in it also which belong to Mr. George Lyons, Mr. Patrick Murphy, Mr. Phil Mullderrig, Mrs. Patrick O'Hora and Mr. James O'Boyle.
There are five old people in our townland. They can tell stories in English and some in Irish. Houses were more numerous in former times. There are a lot of old ruins in this townland. There are three old ruins which belonged to Mr. Hughes, Mr. Hanley, and Mr. Curran. Some of those people died but their sons and daughters to England or America.(continues on next page)- Collector
