- There is a fairy fort in the townland of Letterkeen in the parish of Newport, and the barony of Tyrawley. It is circular in shape and there is a fence round it. It goes by the name of "fort". There are a few trees growing round it. It is supposed that the Danes lived there when they were in Ireland, and that the fairies still inhabit it.
Lights used to be seen there about a hundred years ago and it used to go by the name of "Will o' the Wisp". People feel nervous about going into it after sunset or before sunrise.- Collector
