    warm herself by the fire. On St Patrick's day there used come a band to Doe Chapel and play outside in the yard before mass and after mass. On Shrove Tuesday long ago there used be a lot of marriages.
    Easter Sunday is a great day for eating eggs. On May Eve the children of the house-hold go out and gather armfuls of the flowers known as Marsh Mallow or May flower. These they strew at the entrance of every field and every path leading to a home-stead and out-office and even on the housetops. The reason they do that is to keep away ill-luck and bring good fortune. On the feast of St John which is on the 23rd June it is the custom to light a bonfire
