- The children go barefooted nowadays during the Summer months. Some kinds of shoes are made in this place they are also mended. Shoemakers were fairly plentiful long ago. Clogs used to be worn by many long ago, and there are still a few wearing them yet. Leather used to be cured in Ballumore Upper about fifty years ago. The old people say it was far better leather than what we get nowadays.
