off ring round the moon is a sign of a nearhand storm and a nearhand ring is the sign of a far off storm.
Long ago when there was a far off ring around the moon, people used to say, "it was in its bosom for shelter." That meant coming rain. Before and after the new moon the days are dull and dark. A bright moon is the sign of good weather. Starry nights mean frost.
Clouds are signs of weather too. Dark clouds mean rain. When small clouds are in the sky the weather will be fine.
    The rainbow foretells weathers.
    "A rainbow in the morning,
    Shephard's warning.
    A rainbow at night
    Shepherds' delight."
The south west winds brings most rain. The north winds snow and the east winds bring frost.
When crows gather pebbles it is a sign of heavy winds. When they dive through the air it is a sign of storm. When ducks quack rain is coming. When geese run and flap their wing there will be wind
