After the cows have calved some people put a three penny piece into her first drink.
The cows and calves get fed three times a day. They get turnips and straw and hay.
The horses get turnips and corn, and the young calves get sweet milk. The hens lay up to fifty eggs a day. They get potatoes boild. When my mother, sets eggs she put down two dozens, and lets the hen sit for two weeks. Then she brings the eggs in and put them in a bowl of warm water. If the move she knows the chickens will come out. If they dont move they are rotten.
