    ordinary plaster. When it was dry, they whitewashed the walls, and made them as white as snow.
    Some if the old houses in this locality have half-doors, but they are not so common now, as they were in olden times.
    The floors of the old houses were not made of cement, but of a hard earthen substance called "blue clay".
    All the old houses in this district had chimneys, one at each gable. There was only one house in this locality that had no chimney,- that belonging to Tom McLaughlin, or "Tom Saddler", who lived in Ballyargus.
