- In the year 1867 there was a great snowstorm. The people who lived that time in this parish could not get out of their houses. The snow was up over the doors and windows. (The houses were nearly all thatched then.
In some houses the people had to break open the doors and dig a path out in the snow.
The poor people could not live inside because their turf and potatoes and all were outside.
It was over three weeks or nearly a month before any horses or carts could be taken out on the roads.- Collector
