Festival Customs (Hallow Eve)
Skerries, Co. DublinOn the 1st November many games are played such as - jumping for the apple and dipping for the six pence. An apple is tied by a piece of string, then the string is tied to a nail in the ceiling. Then each person tries to get the first bite from the apple. The next game is the dipping for the six pence. A six pence is put into a basin full of water then every person gets his turn to dip his head down into the water to try and grip the money in his mouth.
