- About one hundred years ago there was an old hedge school in the townland of Annughloy its ruins are still to be seen and is now called the pin. The teacher was a man named Maurice Kelly. There was a stone wall outside of it and the Pupils were taught inside.
A man named Mr Kells a landlord evicted all the tenants who were living in that townland and hunted the school teacher and took the land in his own possession which he held for years and stocked with cattle and horses. Then another landlord named William Vaugh took this land in possession and held for years also. Later on he was forced to sell it to a man named francis McGeoy who is still living there and owns the whole townland and he is now aboout forty five years .- Collector
