- (continued from previous page)candles together. They were inserted in dough to keep them upright. This dough was then preserved for a year and was supposed to have a cure if applied to the affected spot. They used to say the rosary around the candles in memory of the Twelve Apostles. Each member used to mark a candle for himself. The first candle to go out showed that member of the family would be the first to die.
