“A barrel of an old gun, which was used in fighting at Ballinamuck, 1798, remain in Coote Gelelan's(Cloonagheer) house yet. It was a flint gun.
It was found in the battlefield one day and brought home by my grandfather(Coote Geelan). A bayonet was on the top of it and it is about 6 ft long and very awkward.
It remained at our house for 6 or 7 years as a keepsake, and 5 years ago my father buried it for some reason and a few years ago he was ploughing in a field and ploughed it up. All the wood was(continues on next page)- Collector
