- The name of my townland is Lahesheragh, it is in the parish of Ballydonohue and in the barony of Irraghti-Connor and in the county of Kerry. There are about 32 families in Lahesheragh and about 178 people. The most common name is Lynch. About half of the houses are thatched and the other half are slated. The word Lahesheragh means half a ploughing team. The houses are more numerous in my townland than they were in former times. A great number of people emigrated to America and there is scarcely any house in the district that hasn't a friend in America. The land is hilly and stony, still it is fertile.
