Long ago, when a calf or a pig would die, they would carry the dead animal over the neighbours' bounds' ditch, and bury it there. It is not right to keep the first kittens a cat will have, because you will have bad luck. A red dog will bite you; A red horse will kick you; A red wench will kiss you. If you got a dead animal in your land, tis a sign of bad luck. It isn't right to show a dog a looking glass. It isn't right to say "Lie Down" to a black dog by night. You should never tease a cat. When a horse or a colt is sold, it is not right to give away the head collar with him. You should always give a "luck-penny" when a person gives you any kind of an animal (i. e. a pup, a kitten, a pet lamb). You should never bring fresh meat in a car, if twas a mare-in-foal you had under the car. They say a cat is supposed to have nine lives.

The Moon
i Should you see the new moon rising, you should shake the money in your pocket.
II It isn't right to look at the new moon over your shoulder, tis the devil you'ld be looking at.
III You should always bless yourself when you see the new moon first.
IV If you were throwing out anything from a vessel by night , and to look at the moon, the vessel would be empty for the rest of the year.
V Tis unlucky to see the moon through a glass.
