- The Big Wind
Long ago in the year 1803 a great storm arose. It began very early in the night and lasted until three or four o'clock in the morning. It blew first from the north and then from the south. It was then it did all the harm. It swept houses and sheds from all over the district. It swept a shed belonging to Mrs. Power over to Ballyeigh strand. The old people around here used to say it was the worst storm they could ever remember.- Collector
