   "Poor Old Joe" is a very popular game. The children form a ring. One girl stands inside in the ring and another outside it. The girl inside says "what are you after?" The girl outside says "A big fat chicken," The girl inside says "Take anyone you like." The girl outside takes one and brings her round the ring once or twice. This is continued until all the children are taken away. The girl who was inside the ring follows the other children. Whoever she catches first has to start the game again.
