- Boxty was made from potatoes. The potatoes were washed, then scrapped an a scraper or grater. Flour and milk and salt was mixed up with the scraped potatoes and formed into a cake. This was baked an a pan.
A great cure for a cold was to boil butter-milk and sugar and drink it hot going to bed. This was called "a posset".
