    The town-land I live in is Abbeytown.
    Abbeytown got its name from the eastern end of the town land adjoining Killbloglasly.Abbeytown and Streastown formerly the one quarter known as the abbey land they belonged to the abbey and monasterry of Ballisadare and remained so until the reign of queen elizabeth who handed them over to her soilders.They held for a time and then sold them to the to the Mc Manus brothers.Captain and Doctor Mc Manus were two,who cleared the landsoff the few tenants that remained. after a short period both of them died and the place
