Until recently the natives of this country were ignorant of tea. It was brought to Ireland about two hundred years ago from China.
Before Christianity was brought to Ireland (about two hundred years ago) there were no potatoes. Sir Walter Ralleigh an English man brought the potatoes from America and planted it in his garden in Cork. - Long ago in this country the people lived on oaten bread and potatoes. They used to eat three meals a day and these were of potatoes and buttermilk. They all drank milk out of wooden mugs which they made from timber.(continues on next page)
