    Ballymote. They drank the money and made up their minds to destroy the dog when they would go home.
    They got a rope to hang the dog and put it up on a tree. The dog started leaping and jumping and broke the rope and ran to the back-door saying "Whilst there is life there is hope" This is the song:-
    It was Dwyer the invincible,
    And OHara from the town,
    That planned the whole thing,
    And drank the half-crown.
    If I had lived much longer
    As you would plainly see.
    I'd bite and bark at dyer
    And likewise Mathew B_.
    The "feeden" that they gave me,
    Was turf_mould mixed with clods
    And I was always a laughing stock
    For the Ballybrennan dogs.
