- In every district in Ireland nearly every farmer sets potatoes. The setting of the potato crop is very tedious work and mostly every farmer gathers a "meithal" for this work.
Sometimes before the farmer ploughs the land he spreads manure on the green pasture land and then ploughs it into ridges or drills.
The ridges are then settled and made ready for sticking the potatoes.
The potatoes are usually split by the women folk.
During the summer months to protect the potatoes from the blight the farmers sprays them with amixture of blue(continues on next page)- Collector
