So now the concert is commenced,
And I hope that every one,
Will like the Robert Emmet play.
The farce, the dance, and song.
I wish you all a bright new year,
    Hope soon to meet again
So just before we leave to-night
    We'll sing the old refrain,
    Chorus,
This song was first made, and sung by a man named Bannigan about thirty years ago. This man had a public-house in the village, and sung it on the occasion of a new-years night concert in the Father Martin Hall.
