Song - Edward Boyle (continued)
“Ye tender hearted maidens,”
(continued from previous page)And everything seemed charming, when nature wore a smile;
Then I parted my true love, my darling Edward Boyle.
III
In the county of Fermanagh, in the parish of Roslea;
In the lands of Grahawarran, and the mountains Slieve Beagh;
He was reared of honest parents, kept free from grief and toil,
But now they're sunk in sorrow for the loss of Edward Boyle.
IV
His friends and his relations, they all did him convey,
To Belfast town of old renown, until they reached the quay.
With a heart undaunted he set sail and left the shamrock shore,
O! Joy go with you Edward Boyle, shall I ever see you more.
V
A curse attend Columbas, who first found out the shore,
As also to the Spaniards, who sailed in days of yore.
Full many are bound to sail away and leave their native soil.
As did this dear friend of mine, my darling Edward Boyle.- You are not logged in, but you are welcome to contribute a transcription anonymously.
