- The famine caused great hunger and death to come on the people for want of food. There were great floods that time and my Great - Great - Great - Great Grandfather said the small people were out watching for small potatoes which had been swept away. This caused great fever to come also.There was a Fever hospital in the townland of Mullaconly near Roslea. The people were put into the coffins alive. In this part of the country in 1846 and 1847 many people came begging from other parts of the country.(continues on next page)
