be passed through a pair of carders or brushes by placing a small portion of the wool on one of them and drawing the other backward and forward by each hand until a roll about a finger thick and six inches long would be made. These would be placed in another basket for the spinning. One of those would be placed on the loom it would be held by the left hand and the wheel turned by the right until it would be brought to the required thiness. As each one is spun out another roll is attached to it and drawn in like manner until the required quantity is made. This would be all done by the girls of the family at nightime.
