    The Potato Crop.
The amount of ground grown under potatoes on my father's farm each year varies from one to one and a half acres, which includes potatoes for eating and potatoes for storing for the coming year.
My father, with my brother and any other help he has prepares the ground. The potatoes are grown in drills on our farm.First of all the ground is ploughed, then cross-ploughed,then harrowed and then the drills are raised with a drill plough, which is for this purpose alone. Many years ago, wooden ploughs were used but since iron ploughs were made,no wooden ploughs are used and therefore, there are none in this district.
