    The Local Patron Saint.
    Saint Dympna is the patron saint of this parish,which takes its name from her,Tydavnet being the English form of the old Irish name Tigh Damhnata which means The House of Dympna.
    A small village about two miles from here also bears the name Tydavnet.At this place tradition tells us that Saint Dympna and her companions rested when on their flight from the royal palace of Clogher to tho wooded land of Belgium.
    The only surviving relic of that far distant year is a little standing wall in the middle of the old graveyard.This is all that is left of the old church of Saint Dympna which was built hundreds of years ago.
