    There are many stories current regarding strange animals which have their dwelling in the lakes around the district, but many accounts are vague, and no one seems to have actually seen the creatures.

    The present owner of the land told me that his grand-uncle, dead a long time told him that there was treasure buried under or near that stone. If so it is there still and the stone was never interfered with as people thought it unlucky to meddle with it.
    Another tale regarding the mark of the shoe on the stone, was that it was made by the horse of the Highwayman Pat O'Hara when he passed on one of his journeys.
