  2. In Moolum a hilly district situated between Kilmacow and Mullinavat an old woman used to grow flax on her own farm and then reap it & put the flax through all the necessary processes. She had to steep it in a pond in her own field as she would be prosecuted & fined heavily if she were caught steeping the flax in the river (Blackwater a tributary of the Suir) as the poison given off by the flax would kill the fish
