  1. (continued from previous page)
    The trees are green
    The hedges white
    The leaves and blossoms fair
There's music in the forest now and I too must be there.
Twas sandly [?] heart [?] and kindly hearts
For they who bade me roam
From nature and the forests free
    To share the city's home.
Do not shy from the Gipsy girl
    Call me not unkind
I never shall meet so dear a friend
    As those I left behind.
To the greenwood I must go,
for my heart has long been there
    And nothing but the greenwood
    Shall save me from despair.
