  1. In the townland of Castlebanny there is a castle situated on the land of James Fitzgerald. It is about a quarter of a mile from the Waterford road.
It is a big castle about one hundred feet high, and it is made of stone. Only one side of this castle now stands, and the remainder of it is in ruins.
In the troubled times long ago the people used to find a hiding place in this castle.
Castlebanny got its name on account of the castle being situated there.
In Summer many people come to see it.
