  1. I have heard of a few poets that lived in this district. One of them was Thomas Welsh. He lived in Kilree. He made a lot of songs about Ireland. He got the gift of poetry from his father. The reason why he made the songs was for fun. The people were afraid that he would make poetry about them. He was able to make poetry that would banish rats. I never heard of him competing with anyone to see who was the best. Thomas Welsh was a great poet.
