    1. When the smoke goes up straight, it is a
    sign of good weather.
    2. When the wind blows it down, it is a sign of
    rain.
    3. When there is a south-west wind, it is a
    sign of rain.
    4. If the sky is red in the evening, the next day
    will be hot.
    5. If the clouds are going opposite to the wind, it
    is a sign of thunder.
    6. When the north wind blows, it is the sign of
    snow.
    7. If the cat scrabs wood, it is a sign of wind.
    8. If a cat sits with her back to the fire, and
    washes over her ears with her paw is is a
    sign of rain.
