  1. Near the butt in the parish pf Clonaslee there is a place called the Robber's Den. It is a big cave and there are rock inside it and there are big holes in the rocks. It is said that there were seven steps going in to the cave,bur they are all covered with heather except the top step. No one ever went down in the cave to explore it as the hole is too small.
    Long ago a band of robbers lived in the den. These robbers plundered everything they could and they took money and hid all their booty in this cave. It was the money they took from the people that they hid. It is said that there is a trunk of gold hidden beneath the den. The robbers
