  1. The Stony Man is situated on a very high point in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.It is a large stone or rock about seven feet high cut out into the shape and appearance of a man. If any person were up at this Stony Man,he would have a great view of the surrounding counties for miles around.There is an old legend told that the gentry hunting through the mountains,had the Stony Man carved out as a particular mark to find their way on the mountain if they got lost. They knew where they were when the saw the Stony Man.
