- The care of the feet
In former times people wore no boots until they were thirteen or fourteen years. They used to attend Mass in their bare feet. Nowadays the children wear shoes when they are learning to walk but in summer they go bare footed.
The old people say that the water you wash your feet with at night should not be thrown out, as if it is thrown out the fairies will bring you. It is also said that if you drop a common pin in the water after your feet have been washed it would keep you from getting corns.
In my district there are no shoe makers but shoes are repaired. The repairing of shoes has been traditional in their families. Clogs are worn locally. There is a man living in the district who makes(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
