- A lime kiln is built round with stones. It is plastered with lime and sand, and it is about twelve feet high. It widens out in the middle and slopes in at the top a little. There are iron bars down near the bottom going across. There is a line of dry turf left on the top of the bars and there are stones put on the top of the turf and a layer of column on top of the stones and a line of stones on top of the column. There is a fire turf lit under the bars of iron and when the stones are burned the lime is taken out.
