    In this townland many years ago, lived an old man who was famous for firkin making and various sorts of wicker. He made these firkins in the form of a barrel. The material he used was very light boards bound on the outside with sally rods or wire. A great number of people bought these firkins for the purpose of keeping butter.
    He also made baskets of various kinds. During the long winter nights he found this a very profitable business and with the proceeds he supported himself and his family.
