- Long ago there lived three old men in Derrane named Nolans. They used to visit each other in turn. On a certain night two of them were returning home.
They came together for a part of the way, then they separated, each one going in the direction of his own home. One of them had to travel some distance through fields. The night was bright and he had gone only a short way through the fields when he saw sitting on the path before him, what appeared to be a white woman.
