    There lived in Roxboro about a hundred years ago a man named Jack Murphy. He used to be hidden behind the ditches and robbing every one that would pass. A man was coming home from to a fair one night and he had a lot of money on him, and the robber robbed im. Himself and a soldier was lodging in a house where there was only a woman. When he told the soldier this the soldier set out with a sword. When he was going along the road out comes the robber and told him to lance out his money. The soldier dropped a
