This excuse worked allright for a while but the Bread was being still burned on Monday morning due of course to Paddy indulging too freely on Sunday. At last Vaugh decided he'd give Paddy the road, so he laid him out on Saturday night and told him be going. Paddy took his wages but had the parting shot and replied as follows.
    I'm Paddy Hurley a Baker Poet.
    I'm sacked to night and I'm glad to know it
    As here I stand without a Flour
    And to the Devil I pitch you Dickie Vaugh
