- The graveyard for the interment of deceased persons of Kilteevan parish is situated about a mile from the present church.
It is of a circular shape; its diameter being about 200 yards. It is enclosed by a wall and is much higher than the surrounding land. The surface is rather uneven and the grave spaces laid out irregularly; there are no walks through it, and no effort is made to keep it in a proper condition, as no caretaker was ever apointed to look after it.
There were a number of very large ash trees growing on its outskirts but nearly all of these have been removed latterly.
There are quite a large number of headstones; most of the recent ones are of marble, or cut stone faced with marble & surmounted by a Celtic cross. The older ones are mostly large flat slabs, standing on end & placed at the 'head'; there are a few cromlechs.
There are no wooden or iron crosses
The dates on the older stones reach back to 1798
There is also the ruins of an old church dedicated to St. Brigid at the northern side which contains a number of vaults wherein lie the coffins of some ancient(continues on next page)- Collector
