  1. Marriages generally take place in Shrove time. Money is given as dowry. Stock and goods were given one time. I never heard of marriages taking place in the houses. Wedding feasts mostly are in the home of the bride.
    Straw - boys are not as numerous as they were in olden times, but they still keep up in the custom in some places. they are well treated and they dance at the wedding.
