    iron with the hammer. When the iron is cut he puts it into the fire to redden. When the iron is red it is taken out and put on the anvil. He then gets a fuller and he makes a ridge around the shoe. He puts the holes on with the stamp. He puts seven holes in a horse-shoe and six in a pony shoe. When the smith has an animal shod he does the "dressing off".
    The smith puts bands on wheels. He reddens iron and he takes it out of the fire. He then puts it into a small piece of iron. He then pulls the iron out and accordingly the piece of iron is made into a circle.
    "Firelock" of Aherla forge is the only smith in the district able to give different tempers to quarry jumpers.
    The smith of Aherla puts the on wheels in the open air. The stone on which the bands are put on is near the river.
    The forgewater is good for horses. It cures them.
