It is very nice to sit and watch it from the nearby hill-top. It is also said that blue lights called "Phantom Lights are seen if a storm is about to break. One night some fishermen were out on the Bay fishing for mackarel. The night was calm, and the sea quiet and undisturbed, when one of the men happened to look towards "Tighe O'Cahal", and there saw the "Phantom Lights". He shouted to his companions to row with all their might for the land. They bent to the oars, and when about half a mile from the pier a sudden storm arose. They were unable to reach the landing place, but the boat and all the men were washed right up ashore about a mile further on.
About two miles from the Altar School out in the sea there is a small island known as "Oileann Bidran". Local fishermen can tell tales of a Phantom boat that can be seen there before a sudden storm.
