    Mass was said on this rock by a priest who was in hiding somewhere around the place. It was he cut out the cross in it. That is a long time ago - over a hundred years. Maybe the place in front of the rock was lower long ago

  2. In the bad times a priest lived in hiding at Shanagh, Dunmanway. Place name - Tobairín a tsagairt. A well covered with large flags now filled in. Not used for years. ] Feic 1. 103 Shinagh is about two miles west of Liscroneen in a straight line.
