- In olden times people nearly always went to town for their goods. Hawkers came on Sundays after Mass selling wicker baskets blackthorn sticks and apples. This custom has died out. Wwork was often given in exchange for goods. Eggs and butter are given in exchange for good at the present day.
A man named Denis O'Leary or Donnchadha na gCearcach was a rag dealer in Kilcorney long ago.
The coins which have gone out of use are a [?], four shilling piece, a crown, a tenpenny bit, a thirteen penny bit, a guinea in gold, and a coin smaller than a farthing called a carley [?] which was equal to half a farthing.- Informant
