To roam by the banks of Sullane
To gaze on the beauties of nature
That embellish the woods and the Lawn
The prospect was surely enchanting
Gay lasses in jovial high bloom.
Promenading by the banks of that river
As it flows through the town of Macroom.

I being airy and fond of recreation
By that river I chanced for to roam.
Being weary from walking and rambling
I sat myself down by a grove.
In contentment I sat meditating
Till Sol all his rays had withdrawn
When a damsel of queenly appearance
Came down by the banks of Sullane.

I arose with great joy and emotion
In beholding this angellically fair
A pearl of the greatest profusion
Bespangled with jewels so rare
