    would be taken out and well washed in cold water any put to dry.
    People thatch with rushes and reed and scallops.First a layer of rushes is put up. Then one scallop is put length ways and another one is bent and put down through the others. It is put up in layers. Some good thatchers of the present day are Daniel Nolan and Daniel Aherne both from Lyreneague, and John Murphy of Rockhill.
    Thatching was done very much long ago, because all the people had thatch houses.
    A good thatcher of long ago was Maurice Stack of a native of Rockchapel who used go around every place thatching.
    Rope making is still done. Ropes are used for to tie wynds and many other things.
    Coopering was carried on very much long ago. People who used make barrels, churns, pecks,pails, ferkins and other wooden vessels were called '' coopers.''
    Some famous coopers were Batt and his brother Dan Curtin who lived in Knockafurtig, Denis Morrissey of Glenearney and Charles McCarthy a native of Meelin.
    People used burn lime in kilns long ago and it is still burned nowadays. The limestones are drawn first and then they are broken small. Fire is
